Mission Statement
Education is the bedrock of our future. The Education Committee was created to foster thriving and invigorating learning environments for our children that integrate them within our community.
The primary goal of the Education Committee is to foster a high quality of education for the children of Venice, and thereby help fulfill Abbot Kinney’s original vision for Venice as a Mecca for culture, the arts, and education.
A secondary goal of the Education Committee is to encourage local children of all backgrounds to be educated together. This will create long-lasting bonds amongst our children that tie them to their neighbors and their community, as well as ameliorate some of our socio-economic barriers.
To achieve this goal, our public schools must be of a high standard, which requires a great commitment of resources and wide cooperation. There has been a dramatic improvement in the quality of education in Venice in recent years, but there are few forums for local educators to come together to seek common goals and speak with a single voice.
The Education Committee seeks to be the forum and the bridge between local businesses and educators. Together we can achieve better education for all Venetians, of all backgrounds, and foster a greater sense of neighborhood and community amongst our children.
