Our common purpose is to nurture a future community whose ability to learn, create and lead will inspire the world.
With the VCCEC, the status of education is elevated and the presence of children in the community is promoted.

Through the Education Committee of the Venice Chamber of Commerce, exemplary students from Venice High School are being honored for their achievements both in and outside of the classroom. The Jacket of Excellence Awards is a nearly 40 year tradition in the Venice community, and now more than ever, positive traditions are important for all of our communities, families and collective future. The most critical voices missing from the global conversation are those of students. With the Jacket of Excellence we are preparing to elevate them to their rightful position as most influential.
For the 2020 - 2021 academic year, an impressive 86 Venice High School students have met the requirements to earn a Jacket of Excellence - this is the highest number ever. The Jacket is reserved for exceptional students who do above what is expected of them – earning above a 3.75 GPA to maintaining excellent citizenship, all the while sharing their energy and intelligence in the service of our diverse community. At this time, when the world is looking for solutions, they are the enterprising individuals working together to find solutions. The youth of Venice is the world’s untapped resource for change, epitomizing possibility and promise. Acknowledging on a deep level these types of accomplishments creates the conditions that allow talent to develop and flourish. As a society we must cultivate our moral compass, turning away from the celebration of the crudeness of fame and fortune, and instead honor character, effort, intelligence and kindness. Highlighting the inventive models taking place in our family of schools leads to more. Since 1984, the Awards have encouraged a culture of creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation. Through this meaningful tradition, hundreds of Venice High School seniors have received the commendation, holding it in high esteem into their futures as alumni. |
